Gergely Szurgyi was born in Hungary in 1994. He began playing the guitar at the age of nine, took private lessons for four years, and from 2008 onwards attended Ede Roth's class at the Egressy Béni Conservatory. He completed his artistic guitar studies at the Liszt Academy in Budapest in 2019 and his master's degree at the Nürnberg University of Music in 2022. Gergely Szurgyi has won numerous national and international competitions. In addition to solo performances, he is very succesful with chamber music. In 2015 he founded the Tritonus Guitar Trio with friends, which has since achieved numerous prizes. Their greatest success was winning the Guitar Foundation of America Ensemble Competition in Miami in 2019. His first solo album, "Scordatura," was released in 2024 and was voted "Album of the Year" in the solo guitar category on nativedsd.com, also receiving the "Public Award" for receiving the most votes in each category. Since 2022 he is also working as a consultant and sales representative for Hanika Guitars.
